Linda Cruse brings together teams from around the world to take part in a unique competition – the Race4Good. The Race4Good invites the brightest and best brains from business and universities and forms them into dynamic teams to harness their experience, innovation, and passion.
Teams are given up to 21 days in which to research real-life challenges facing a specific community and to develop a business plan to bring long-term economic and social uplift. The winning team will be flown out to meet the community and see the first phase of their plan brought to life.
The team from UCLA who won the Race4Good competition demonstrated all the qualities that professionals in business hope to see in fresh graduates: team work, initiative, problem solving, and time management. Their ability to come up with a feasible and realistic plan in such a challenging environment goes beyond just beyond critical thinking, it demonstrates the strong empathy the students showed to the village in Nepal. I think it was their passion to help that ultimately led to their success. This is going to be an experience that these young people will draw inspiration from throughout the rest of their lives, and will leave a powerful impact on the lives of an entire community.
